Dermal Fillers are a simple, non-surgical procedure that can be completed within 45-60 minutes depending on your particular needs

Sometimes referred to as soft tissue enhancement, dermal filler injections are performed in the surgery and the results are instant, natural and long lasting.

Dermal fillers work by supporting tissue that has weakened and restoring volume where it has been lost through ageing and other lifestyle factors.

Dermal fillers are made of a substance that naturally occurs in the skin and is a component of skin structure. These fillers come in different densities and consistencies and their job is to replace hydration at different layers of tissue that has diminished with age or natural insufficiency.

Dermal Filler Treatment FAQs

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are products that are placed into the skin or lips to give a filling effect.A dermal filler is a Non Animal Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid (NASHA) that once injected, increases volume, smooths wrinkles and plumps-up folds in the skin.

They have a wide variety of uses, including:

  • Mid & lower face volume loss
  • Temporal volume loss
  • Cheeks and Cheek Bones
  • Smile lines: The lines running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Frown lines: The area between the eyebrows
  • Smoker's lines: The vertical lines across the top lip
  • Marionette lines: The lines at the corners of the mouth
  • Crows feet: The lines at the outside corners of the eyes
  • Worry lines: The lines across the forehead
  • Lips: To fill out and better define the line of your lips

Dermal fillers can effectively address changes observed in the ageing face or improve symmetry and enhance your best facial features. Over time, the science, techniques and artistry of dermal fillers has moved away from the filling of lines to the correction and enhancement of the entire face. This is called Complete Facial Rejuvenation. The process known as soft tissue augmentation uses injectable filler materials to treat fine to deep wrinkles, folds and depleted volume in the face or hands. Dermal fillers enhance your natural looks by restoring your skin’s volume and revitalising your appearance.

Does the treatment hurt?

The treatment involves injections into the skin, therefore you may experience some discomfort, however local anaesthetic creams and injections can be used to minimise pain.

What are the side effects?

The side effects of treatment may include swelling, redness and occasional bruising. Swelling is the most likely effect because the treatment attracts the body's own water to the area. Other side effects may include minor lumps, itching or tenderness, which usually resolve quickly. For a full product disclosure, please speak with our clinical staff prior to treatment.

Can I go straight back to work after treatment?

Yes, but for a first treatment it is probably better to schedule your appointment for the end of the day and preferably the end of the week. There may be temporary swelling  and/or bruising.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Due to the swelling that may occur with the treatment, most clients prefer not to return to work or their normal routine immediately after treatment. In instances where slight swelling has occurred, a little ice  and restful activity is recommended..

Recommended treatment schedule

Dermal Fillers are non-permanent and are slowly absorbed over time. Dermal fillers can last longer if used in conjunction with anti-wrinkle treatment .Most dermal fillers last between 9 - 12 months depending on the area being treated, the depth of the lines, the condition of the skin and the lifestyle of the individual.
